each pixels is 1/72 of an inch. Pictures are made out of pixels, that are not visable as individuals unless you zoom in to 200-300 magnification. You can add more pixels, but it may or may not come out to be better. Mega Pixel-a 1000/1000 pixel image. A million pixels. HUGE FILE SIZES

Image Formats

Raw, TIFF, JPG, GIF, PNG, etc.

PNG has best resolution with resonable file size

Image Resolution

lower res. = lower quality. JPG is bad for compression. Looses way to much quality.

Use highest res you have, until the finish.

Selections

Selection skills are important in Photoshop.

Layers

Layer Skills are also very important

Contrast and Brightness

Quick and important editing

Colors

Saturation, removing certain colors

Blog Entry

In your class blog, write a brief introduction for yourself as a designer. Explain what you've done and what you already know. Be sure to answer the following questions.

1. What have you already done as a designer? (Nothing is a possible answer too.) What programs have you used? Describe one or two projects that you have worked on.
2. What have you done with Adobe Photoshop? (Again, nothing is a possible answer.) Describe one or two projects that you have worked on, what features of Photoshop you're most comfortable with.
3. What other design software have you used? (iMovie, Flash, etc.) Explain how comfortable you are with those programs.

Please be sure to title your post with the date of this assignment ("2011-09-07").

Reading

Read the first chapter of Robin Williams Design Workshop ("How much do you already know?"). Do not read "What about Printing?"
After (or during) your reading, take the 5-minute online reading quiz. You may want to look at the questions before beginning the reading!

Your Culminating project:  make sure you have come up with a proposal and write a short description of your project in your blog.  Title it:  Idea for my Project
